Oswego Quest for the Golden Pin

This game is an homage to my time in college. A lot went wrong during that time, but more went right as I started being on my own and forming all new types of relationships from scratch. As well as exploring what I wanted to artistically become going into my future. It was a special period in my life, one that I won’t soon forget. Which is why I wanted to capture the experience in a (very) retro style. Emblematic of what meeting and interacting with tons of interesting people in an open community space felt like. Inspired by Louie Zong’s windsor road (2021) that I played when I first graduated from college.

You play as Mac, a freshman at SUNY Oswego college. He hasn't studied for his finals, and the semester is drawing to an end. Instead of cramming, Mac's roommate Ron tells him of a legend. The Golden Pin of Oswego. Any who wear it during their final exams will be blessed to pass their tests. A powerful artifact indeed.

Thus, Mac embarks on his quest of procrastination. Following clues of this elusive pin and talking to anyone who might know something. Or generally messing around campus until he stumbles onto a lead. Navigate the halls of state sponsored high education. Mingling with classmates, and staff alike, simply trying to get through one of the toughest weeks of the semester.

This is an original Game Boy game you can play in your emulator. You can play the demo version in the browser, or make a one-time payment for Early Access to every build leading up to the final version of the game. Any donations to my creative endeavors are much appreciated.

The goal is to finish the entire experience I have planned out. Ending in enough content for a 30 to 70 minute adventure. Everything to the main sequences to the ending have been written, and in some cases coded. The remaining development will lean towards more art, music, side quests, and miniscule details that are important to me.
