Summary

A Pokémon is a magical creature that inhabits our world in more ways than one. They live, work, train, and create with people by their sides. The legends state that we were once all indistinguishable from Pokémon. Then one day, by some unknown means, we blossomed into our own species. However, we are not as smart as an Alakazam, nor as strong as a Machamp, and no more cunning than a newborn Zorua. What sets us apart from our more capable counterparts, is the bonds we can create with them. No longer wild animals fighting for resources, but companions creating a better world together. Birthing us all into a sphere of new idles, passions, and relative peace. Unfortunately, like a spoiled child on their birthday, we as people may have been gifted a present we don’t deserve. What could have been a perfect world, was continuously met with hostilities and notions not all of us could comprehend. Instability grows in a variety of ways. It is up to all who are passionate enough to help fix these problems, to build that perfect world we all should be a part of. You may be the cure to such issues or part of the problem. The choices you make in your adventure are entirely within your power. Please feel free to play this game however you want. List and do not argue with your Game Master. Any rule of Pokémon not restated in this handbook is either parallel to the video games or can be changed to suit a playstyle. Background
This project was the work of a successful Kickstarter project back in the summer of 2020. Since it's completion at the end of the campaign, its contents have been freely available through a Google Drive link. I’ve decided now to put it here on Itch.io because I remembered I could. This was a project made from the love of the Pokémon series and from the generous support of fans. Therefore, I encourage everyone and anyone to take what I’ve made and spin it however they see fit. Make it less crunchy, make it more diverse, keep it RAW if you see fit. In the age of less and less creative and ambitious Pokémon projects, I’d like this to stand as a reminder that you can make this beloved series anything you want it to be. There is no future plan to create another or revised edition of this handbook.

Encouraged Optional Ruling

This being a 1st edition rule book comes with a lot of early growing pains. Such as using an external application to calculate damage, down to the bulk of text in the handbook. I find that my main failing was the player experience system. It relies too much on constant rolling and tracking of successes. Therefore, I encourage Game Masters running this system to implement a Milestone leveling system for their player’s human characters. This could be extended to their Pokemon as well.
